2013-2014 LF2 regular season:
almost over while
some trainers bid their farewell

Guillaume Rassineux

The LF2 regular season has been about the dominance of COB Calais and the off-court problems of Perpignan Basket.

In week 22, COB Calais won the right to host the end-of-season showcase event, the Final Four. They are joined by Roche Vendée, Pau Lacq-Orthez and Pepignan.

At the other end of the table Charnay Basket and Dunkerque Malo will end the season in 12th and 13th place and will be relegated at the end of the regular season.

In the meantime, Guillaume Rassineux (Reims BF) and Franck Simon (Léon Trégor Basket 29) will be leaving their clubs at the conclusion of the current season.

Six players from Perpignan Basket and officials from the club were summoned by the FFBB to explain their actions in a photograph that appeared on the club's facebook page.

The verdict of the case will be made public before the LF2 final four.

COB Calais fired their way past Reims (76-63) for victory number 23. Tiffany Clark helped herself to 19 points while captain Aurélie Cibert  filled the stats sheet with 17 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Hetta Korpivaara led Reims with 16 points.

Roche Vendée's preparation for the end of season LF2 Final Four is going well. They escaped from Chartres in overtime (70-65).

It was a very physical game. Chartres' Rosalie-Marie Ciss ended up with a broken noise for her efforts as she was taking her new role as captain seriously. She won 17 of her team's 31 rebounds for herself while scoring a couple of points.

Pau Lacq-Orthez made hard work of seeing off Aix-en-Provence (68-61) in a game with nothing at stake for either team.

Elodie Bertal

Perpignan had another busy week with two games. They defeated Illkirch Graffenstaden (81-68) in midweek  with another master class display by Elodie Bertal (26 points - in picture).

Then Perpignan were made to work hard in overcoming Limoges (64-59). Limoges led by 17 points with 13 minutes played (31-14). But they were outdone by Frédérique Ayissi who had her best game of the season at both ends of the court.

Perpignan can finish no worse than 3rd place after this victory and will face Roche Vendée in the second semi-final while COB Calais will meet Pau Lacq-Orthez in a repeat of last season's third place match.

In the remaining games, the already relegated Charnay handed Illkirch Graffenstaden their second defeat of the week (76-57). Léon Trégor also beat a team already relegated, Dunkerque Malo (65-50).

The  other game from this round was played in January when the CFBB had lost to Le Havre (80-82).

With just one round of games remaining this season, only the top 5 teams will finish the season with at least 13 victories.

Encore une journée en L2F
en saison régulière à jouer

Charney Bsketball team
