Julie Barennes resumes her basketball career in LF2 with Angers (UFAB 49) for the rest of the 2012-13 season. She replaces Jessika Bradley, an American who has returned home apparently to look after her mother.
Since leaving the CFBB in 2004, Barennes has played for Nice, Arras and Basket Landes, she has played in 189 games in the LFB with an average of 5.7 points per match.
After Barennes was not offered a new contract with Basket Landes she thought about stopping playing professionally and heading into coaching, because she completed all her coaching exams and obtained the highest qualification in France BE2.
She was unable to find a project that interested her, so instead she maintained her fitness by training with Toulouse since the beginning of the current season.
She last played in the second division of French basketball when she was at the CFBB between 2001 and 2004. At youth level she was European Championships gold medals at U16 (2001) and U20 (2005) level. She also has a Silver and Bronze medals from other competitions.
UFAB 49 did not waste any time in contacting Barennes once they confirmed that Jessika Bradley was not coming back.
Barennes is the second player after Camile Aubert from Basket Landes to join the club.
