Nantes-Rezé  players talking tactics in training

Basket Landes suffered their first defeat in the EuroCup Women campaign this season while Nantes-Rezé take a 18-point lead to Tarbes for the second game. Elsewhere most of the competition favourites won on the road.

Nantes Rezé take an important 18-point lead into the second leg against LFB rivals Tarbes after winning their home game in the two-leg encounter (72-54).

Everything went right for Nantes with 31 baskets coming from 24 assists. They also knocked down 5 more three-pointers than their guests. Cayla Francis and Aurélie Bonnan (12 rebounds) knocked down 16 points each while Sarah Michel filled the stat sheets with 17 points, 12 assists and 5 steals.

Basket Landes were handed their first defeat in the EuroCup Women in a 2-point loss on the road to Tarsus Belediye (85-87) from Turkey.

The Turkish side were led by Doneeka Hodges with 24 points. Veteran player DeLisha Milton-Jones helped herself to 22 points and 13 rebounds while fellow American Natasha Lacy also contributed 21 points.

Basket Landes had five players in double digits with Valériane Ayayi (in picture) leading the way with 16 points. 

Villeneuve d’Ascq were pushed all the way before coming away with a slim lead against Horizont Minsk (65-61).

Basket Landes and Villeneuve d'Ascq host their second legs and should be hoping that home court advantage see them qualify for the quarter-finals.

One of the most exciting teams in this season's ECW Norrkoping Dolphins from Sweden suffered a heart breaking defeat (53-55) against Botas. Spanish guard Sandra Ygueravide hit the game winning shot from the land of many with 10 seconds to play.

Dynamo Moscow replaced Lindsay Whalen with Kristi Toliver for EuroCup play and had no troubles in beating Hungarian side PEAC Pecs (69-55). Tina Charles and Toliver had 16 points each.

In the third meeting of this season between Vologda-Chevakata and Mersin, the Russians gained their first victory (61-59) while
Istanbul Universitesi cruised to victory on the road against Aluinvent Miskolc (87-55).

Dynamo Kursk are still on track for their quest for the EuroCup Women title with a comfortable road victory (82-60) against MBK Ruzomberok.

4 clubs français jouent dans la 8e de la finale

En 1/8e de la finale, les rencontres se jouent en match aller/retour avec Basket Landes souffrant sa première défaite en EuroCoupe cette saison pendant que Villeneuve d'Ascq s'impose et Tarbes subit une défaite contre les Déferlantes.

Basket Landes perd de justesse à Tarsus Belediye (85-87). Ce sont Doneeka Hodges (24 points), DeLisha Milton-Jones (22 points, 13 rebonds) et Natasha Lacy (21 points) de l'équipe turque qui s'opposent contre Valériane Ayayi (16 points) et ses co-équipières Landaises qui vont riposter cette défaite au match de retour.

Dès le début de la rencontre, Nantes Rezé creuse l'écart pour finalement battre Tarbes (72-54) avec de belles performances de Aurélie Bonnan (16 points, 12 rebonds) et Sarah Michel (15 points, 12 passes décisives, 5 interceptions, sur l'image).

Villeneuve d'Ascq remporte la rencontre mais avec difficulté contre leur hôte Horizont Minsk (61-65) emmené par Lenae Williams (16 points) et Emma Meesseman (12 points, 4 passes décisives, 5 rebonds).
