She edged out Sweden's Farhiya Abdi and Spain's Queralt Casas while Olivia Epoupa from France came 10th and the 2011 winner Emma Meesseman 6th.
Iagupova participated in two U18 European Championships (2009-2010) and four U20 European Championships (2009-2012), all in division A.
She made the all tournament team in her last three U20 Championships.
She also played for the senior team in 2011 during the EuroBasket Women 2011 Additional Qualification Round (AQR) and again in the summer of 2012 during the EuroBasket 2013 qualification series.
During the 2012 U20 FIBA Europe European Championship for Women, covered by womensbasketball-in-france, Iagupova scored a total of 248 points (27.8 points per game) in 9 games. Her lowest score was 21 points.
She also came up with a triple double in the quarter-final against the Netherlands, where she scored 24 points, dished out 10 assists and pulled down 13 rebounds. However her efforts were in vain as her side lost (63-71) and was eliminated from the title chase.
Below you can watch the video interview with Alina Iagupova which was taken after the match.
She explained about her shooting and how much work she had put into it. She said that she did enter a basketball academy when she was younger. She finished the interview up by talking about her team-mates and how they worked from game to game. We would like to thank the Ukraine Basketball Federation in helping us with the interview and the translation.
