2012 FIBA Europe player
of the year: Céline Dumerc

French international Céline Dumerc is the 2012 FIBA Europe player of the year. She beat Czech international Eva Vitecková and Russian-American Becky Hammon, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the voting while French international Isabelle Yacoubou-Dehoui finished in sixth place.

Dumerc is the second French player to win this award after Sandrine Gruda who was the 2009 European Player of the year.

The personal awards are stacking up for Dumerc with Radio France sports person of the year 2012 and Chevalier de l'ordre national du Mérite amongst the biggest awards.

For her basketball exploits she also picked up the prestigious La Gazzetta dello Sport 2012 award. More recently she was also voted by the readers of womensbasketball-in-france.com as the LFB player of the month for January.

The award for player of the year is decided by a public vote and an expert voting panel. Then a weighting formula is used to determine the final ranking.

Déjà désigné par La Gazetta Dello Sporte pour la meilleure joueuse européenne en 2012 et par Radio France pour la meilleure sportive française, la Berruyère Céline Dumerc a à nouveau décroché une distinction. Après Sandrine Gruda en 2009, elle est la deuxième joueuse française à recevoir ce trophée par FIBA Europe.

Dumerc devance la Tchèque Eva Vitecková et l'Américaine/Russe Becky Hammon avec 15690 voix par les internautes et 503 votes par les experts. A la sixième place se positionne l'internationale française Isabelle Yacoubou-Dehoui dans ce classement.
