Touty Gandega injured again
her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)

For the second time in her career Touty Gandega injured her right knee. In 2009 the injury occurred after the second game of the season whereas this time her season ended before it even started.

Unfortunately the verdict of her IRM in 2012 is the same as in 2009 with her damaging her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Gandega who just missed out on a place for France in the 3x3 World Championship was looking forward to this season after having established an important role within the USO Mondeville rotation last season (2011-2012).

In defense she basically hunted down the point guards while making life difficult for them in bringing up the ball. This was a job that both K. B. Sharp and Ingrid Tanqueray appreciated.

Gandega is scheduled for an operation in October 2012 on the same knee she damaged in 2009. This also means a minimum six months of rehabilitation and the end of her basketball season. She was replaced by Swedish youth international Binta Drammeh.

However this did not stop her support her team at the Open LFB 2012. But this time she confessed to us unlike in the video interview with wbbif at the Open LFB 2011 not about her career in basketball but what she was planing to do outside basketball.

She also went into detail about her injury without hesitation and said "you know what, the worst thing about this is that it happened in pre-season".

Then she excitedly went on to tell us about her language course in Chinese, English, Spanish and Russian. She admitted that her Spanish was very rusty but she was positive of mastering her course while also trying to do the rehab to be fully fit for next year.

With this in mind, womensbasketball-in-france wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to meeting her again in the future.
