Lattes Montpellier still at
cruise control in the LFB

Lattes Montpellier's victory against Perpignan Basket (61-52) means that the LFB regular season leaders go into the Christmas break in first place. At the other end of the table Hainaut Basket and Arras continue to lose ground and are now officially fighting for their Ligue Féminine de Basketball statutes.

Lattes Montpellier were involved in, what can be described as, a chess match with Perpignan Basket with both coaches taking centre stage.

In the end Montpellier took more risks and were rewarded with 16 trips to the free-throw line, of which they made 15. They also shared the scoring with Fatimatou Sacko leading the way with12 points. Edwige Lawson-Wade, Géraldine Robert, and Gaëlle Skrela all scored 10 points.

For Perpignan Abby Bishop and Angie Bjorklund scored half of their team's points with 15 and 11 points respectively.

Lattes Montpellier remain 2 games clear of Bourges Basket at the top of the LFB while Perpignan drop to 4th place.

 Jennifer Humphrey

When at Basket Landes Jennifer Humphrey (in picture) controls the rebounds and is also smiling her side normally win. She scored 13 points while pulling down 17 rebounds in the Basket Landes' victory against Hainaut Basket (78-58).

Basket Landes never trailed and with Carmen Guzman pacing them with 21 points and 7 assists they were in no danger of losing. Olivia Epoupa and Tamara Abalde had 10 points each.

For Hainaut Basket who are last in the regular season standing with just one victory Stephanie Murphy had 20 points.

Nantes-Rezé ended their negative series with a hard fought victory against Arras (68-57). Arras led for the first 32 minutes but once again ran out of juice and luck in the closing stages.

Sarah Michel

Sarah Michel (in picture), the player of the match, put Nantes in the lead with 7:20 to play in the final quarter (54-53).

Arras - with Aurélie Carmona, Olesia Malshenko and Sandra Dijon-Gérardin all in foul problems and with their point guard Dawn Evans playing with an injury - just fell apart the rest of the way.

Michel with 15 points, 5 assists and 3 steals and Bernadette N'Goyisa (12 points) were Nantes' catalysts.

Birthday girl Marielle Amant added 13 points in the victory against her former club.

Jovana Rad

The good news for Villeneuve d'Ascq is all their injured players are back. But the bad news is that they lost at home to Tarbes (72-86). They had no answer for Jovana Rad (in picture) who scored 28 points and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripes.

Paoline Salagnac (15 points and 5 assists) and Joyce Cousseins-Smith (14 points and 3 assists) were also back to their offensive best.

Villeneuve d'Ascq spent most of their time chasing the game. By the 35th minute they were physically exhausted and had nothing left to stop their opponents. Olayinka Sanni and Lenae Williams led the scoring with 18 and 14 points each while Bintou Diémé dished out 7 assists.
