Kayseri Kaskispor are in the final

Kayseri Kaskispor have qualified for the 2012 EuroCup Women final despite losing (66-71) the second leg to their Turkish rivals Botas Sports Club.

The 12-point advantage from game one gave Kayseri an aggregate score victory (143-136) to now meet Dynamo Kursk in the final.

Leading by 12 points after the first game Kayseri Kaskispor faced a tricky second game away to domestic opponents Botas Sports Club.

The match was exciting from the tip-off with the hosts moving 10 points clear (18-8) with just over five minutes played in the first quarter.

Kayseri Kaskispor managed to reduce the deficit slightly by the end of the first quarter (19-24) but lost the aggregate lead after Courtney Paris hit a 2-point basket with three minutes remaining before the break (27-41).

The joy was short lived for Botas' coach Osman Olcay Orak as Kayseri Kaskispor finished the quarter with a 6-0 run to regain the aggregate lead despite trailing (33-41).

After the break the hosts were quickly back with a 10-point lead but failed in making up the first-game deficit.

Kayseri Kaskispor were able to silence the home fans briefly during the final quarter after an 13-0 run which put them in front (57-54).

Botas Sports Club made one more big effort but their guests survived the onslaught with solid play by Latoya Sanders (22 points and 12 rebounds), a perfect shooting display by Bahar Ozturk (10 points) and down the stretch a decisive point-guard play by Doneeka Lewis (Hodges) who also scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists. Nakia Sanford who did not have much luck in getting the ball in the basket still added 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Botas Sports Club tried everything at the end to make up the deficit but as time was against them, they were forced to attempt more shoots from beyond the arc. However they did not hit the target enough and despite winning the game (71-66) lost the series.

Quianna Chaney led the way by scoring 16 points while Monica Wright added 14 points. Paris finished with a double-double of 12 points and 20 rebounds while Nilay Kartaltepe completed the double-digit scoring with 10 points.

Ayhan Avci's side will be at home for the first game of the EuroCup Women Final on 15 March to then take on Dynamo Kursk in Russia one week later (22 March) to determine the new champions.

The two teams played each other during the group phase with the Russian side winning both games.
