The winners of the 2012 LFB player of the year awards (MVP) for French player, foreign player and young player have been announced by the sponsors MaxiBasket and BasketNews.

The French player of the year awards for the Ligue Féminine de Basketball is organised by MaxiBasket, an independent basketball news publication in France.

They collect votes from the captains and coaches from all the clubs in the first division as well as from an expert panel. This is the 11th season that the Ligue Féminine de Basketball has collaborated with MaxiBasket in presenting these awards.

The 2012 awards are as follows:

Edwige Lawson-Wade 2012 LFB MVP © womensbasketball-in-france.com The 2012 LFB French player of the year is Edwige Lawson-Wade (right). This is the first time she has won this award although she was young player of the year in the Ligue twice in 1997 ad 1998.

Lawson-Wade is the fist player from Montpellier to have won this award. During the regular season she averaged 13.7 points and dished out 4.7 assists. She also had an efficiency ranking of 16.1.

Mistie Mims has picked up the foreign player of the year award for the second time. She had been already the 2011 foreign player of the year in the LFB. Mims led the regular season scoring statistics with 19.7 points and also the efficiency ranking with 20.4 points. She also compiled 7.6 rebounds.

Mims signed another three-year deal earlier in the season which will keep her in Challes-les-Eaux until 2015.

Sara Chevaugeon joined Challes-les-Eaux this season (2011-2012) from the CFBB and is the first player from the club to become young player of the year in this division.

She was also a member of the French team that had won a silver medal at the 2011 European Championship for Women Division A, despite having been handicapped with an ankle injury.
