Four teams tied for fifth place at the end of the regular season with identical win/loss records and their final positions were determined by their performance against each other.
Aix-en-Provence were awarded sixth place by the Ligue Féminine de BasketBall due their better aggregate score victory against COB Calais while Challes with just one victory in this group dropped to 8th place. The 2009 Challenge Round format and scheduleEach round of games will be based on the aggregate score of the two games. The team that finished higher in the table will play the second game at home. All games are scheduled to be played at 20:00 (18:00 GMT). It is possible for the teams to be tied at the end of the first game as overtime will not be played. However if the two teams are still tied at the end of regulation time in the second game then overtime has to be played. The quarter-final matches are played on the 21st and 24th April 2009. The semi-finals will be played on the 28th April and 1st May 2009. The final series will be played on 5th May and 8th May 2009. Only the second game of the final has been scheduled to be streamed live on LFB TV.
