France will take on Russia in youth international basketball classic



France U20 celebrate Victory

France continue their U20 youth international basketball medal count by beating Spain to qualify for the gold medal match against youth rivals Russia.

In the second semi-final match France edged out reigning champions Spain (61-56) with Lucie Bouthors coming off the bench to score a team-high 15 points and Bourges Basket youth player Carine Paul with 12 points.

Mondeville's point guard Ingrid Tanqueray, who secured victory from the charity stripe, took 11 rebounds and contributed 8 points.

France will meet unbeaten Russia in the final who have won in the first semi-final match against Serbia (49-47).

In the other matches played on this day the results are as follows:
Latvia 83 - 73 Lithuania
Turkey 67 - 78 Ukraine
Italy 73 - 51 Montenegro
Belarus 69 - 78 Czech Republic
Bulgaria 74 - 68 Belgium
Germany 68 - 55 Greece

Belgium and Greece are relegated from Division A and will be replaced by Division B finalists Sweden and Poland.

Sweden cruised past Hungary (94-62) while Poland held off the Slovak Republic (60-41).
