Youth international basketball success for France in Spain



France completed their youth international basketball preparation with three victories in Zamora, Spain.

Abou N'diaye's first season in charge of the U20s has gone well so far with 10 victories in 11 games.

France beat Italy, Greece and Spain in their last set of matches before heading out to Italy for the FIBA Europe U20 European Championship Women Division A.

Doriane TahaneFrance had comfortable victories against Italy and Greece with (68-33) and (73-30). In their last game France was given a tougher test by the hosts Spain. Italy had beaten Spain in their previous match (67-59).

Spain had the better of the first period (16-13) but France took control of the match during the second period and went into the interval leading (37-29).

In a thrilling second half France held on to win (65-61). Doriane Tahane (left) was to lead the scoring for France with 22 points while Sarah Michel added 14 points.

Mélanie Arnauld was back for France after missing the last series of games. Ana Cata Chitiga did not play all weekend.

During the three games all the French players made the score sheet in at least one game with Michel and Tahane heading the scoring list with 37 and 35 points each.

France are in the same group as Italy, Germany and Serbia for their European Championship campaign. It starts on Friday, 11 July with a match against Italy the hosts.
