France looking good at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division A

Arnaud Guppillotte could not have wished for a better start to the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women with maximum points for the qualification round.

France notched up victories against Turkey (75-52) and Lithuania (75-40) on day two and three.

With only one player averaging over 20 minutes a game during the first phase of games, Guppillote has been able to conserve players' energies as they move into the next stage of the competition.

The Czech Republic are France's next opponents on 12 August, a team they have already played during the international season preparation.

France won against them then (76-58). Although the Czech Republic finished third in their group, they have a habit of doing well at this age group and have the elements to push France to the limit.

France will meet Sweden, a team that they also beat recently (66-40). However Sweden have proved in the last few years that they are a up and coming force in youth basketball.

In the last qualifying round match France will meet Belgium, also undefeated going into this round.

France have not played Belgium this season. So this side is unknown to the players. Belgium's preparation this season has been good.

France are hoping to defend the FIBA Europe title they won in 2007.
