France making good start in Termosteps U16 in Katowice



Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division A started on Friday, 9 August, in Katowice, Poland with the defending championship winning comfortably against Latvia (74-54).

France after the match All players of the French roster played for no more than 20 minutes with Héléna Akmouche (left) leading the scoring with 14 points.

France took control of the match in the early minutes as Akmouche hit 6 consecutive points for her side to lead (8-4). Latvia were handicapped with loosing Anete Kirsteine due to injury within the first minute.

By the end of the first quarter France was already leading (21-12). They continued to increase their advantage to 19 points by the interval (40-23). This allowed the French head coach, Arnaud Guppillotte, to give all the players a run.

For the remaining of the game both sides traded basket for basket with Latvia never able to close the gap with France maintaining their 20-point advantage for most of the game.

Akmouche was joined in double digits by Adja Konteh with 13 points and Floriane Basque and Jody Cornelie with 10 apiece.
