Four-nation senior international basketball in Amiens and Beauvais



The four-nation senior international basketball tournament in Amiens and Beauvais is the last stage in the preparation for the 2010 FIBA World Championship for France, Argentina, Brazil and Japan.

For Pierre Vincent, the forfeit of Sandrine Gruda from his confirmed championship roster meant that 20-year old Marielle Amant was recalled.

On the first day of the tournament (Thursday, 16 September 2010) France beat Japan (62-58).

 Yoko Oga © womensbasketball-in-france.comEmméline Ndongue led the French attack with 16 points while Nwal-Endéné Miyem and Jennifer Digbeu scored 10 points each.

For Japan Yoko Oga (right) finished the game with 17 points and was joined in double digits by Yoko Nagi and Ai Mitani with 13 and 10 points each.

In the all South American match Brazil beat Argentina (77-71) with 16 points coming from Karen Rocha.

On day two France had a comfortable victory (87-54) against Argentina. This was the first match between these two countries since 1964.

France stepped on the accelerator with a 12-0 run during the second quarter to open up a 20-point lead at the interval (41-21).

In the earlier match Japan outscored Brazil (83-71) with 19 points coming from Mitani.

Japan gave a display in the art of three-point shooting by scoring 9-from-14 attempts.

For Brazil two former players from the French league Adriana Moisés Pinto "Adrianinha" and Alessandra Santos de Oliveira led the scoring with 13 and 17 points each.

The tournament finishes on Saturday with France playing Brazil and Japan Argentina.
