France will start the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women in the preliminary Group B with a match against Senegal on Thursday, 23 September 2010.

They will then play Greece the following day to close their preliminary round with a match against the current Olympic Champions USA.

More news on the 16th edition of the World Championship for Women can be be found here.

Pierre Vincent © womensbasketball-in-france.comPierre Vincent has mixed feelings about the draw because they are in the same group as the USA (Team USA).

He explained that they had to take what was positive and negative in a draw like this. Under normal circumstances, Greece and Senegal were teams that France could beat.

Vincent said that it was on the court that the game was played and it was important that France did not miss the opportunity to gain points.

He views Team USA as another type of opposition, a team that beat the defending World Champions Australia by 30 points in the final of the Olympic games. That cannot be taken lightly. Although no team is unbeatable the USA are rarely beaten.

In case of qualification for the qualification round, France would meet teams from FIBA World Championship Group A.

Vincent had this to comment: "We have already played Belarus and Canada in the past and have good ideas about them. Playing Belarus is never easy for France so it is important to pick up as many points as possible for qualification for the quarter-final."

Vincent claims not to know much about China but he is well aware of the Australians.

If France get past the preliminary round and qualify for the quarter-final, they avoid the Team USA and Australia which is viewed as positive by the French Federation.
