Day five


With the play-off places already decided, the final day of the EuroBasket Women AQT was low key with nothing at stake.

EuroBasket Women Logo 2011  The finalists of the Additional Qualification Round, Germany and Hungary had already qualified for the Additional Qualification Round play-off series. They will face each other in the second phase of this qualification series. The winner of the two-match play-off qualifies for the finals of the European Championship.

Ukraine beat Finland (82-76) for their first victory of the tournament and moved into fourth place. Olena Zherzherunova was once again the leading player for Ukraine with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Finland were led by Taru Tuukkanen with 28 points and 11 rebounds as her team ended the competition in bottom place.

In the final game in Group A, Bulgaria held off the Netherlands (70-62) to clinch second place. Donneka Hodges was the top scorer again for Bulgaria with 19 points while Jaklin Zlatanova just missed a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Netherlands the Limoges player Tanya Bröring was the only player in double digits with 17 points.

In Group B, the hosts Italy, led by Simona Ballardini, outscored Romania (76-60) while Serbia cruised past Belgium (82-70).

Italy finished second place with three victories while Serbia took third place. Belgium had to settle for fourth while Romania were left with the wooden spoon.

The games between Germany and Hungary for the last European Championship place in 2011 spot will be played on 12 and 15 June.
