Charde Houston © womensbasketball-in-france.com The rumours have finally been confirmed in the basketball news section of La Dépêche du Midi newspaper that Charde Houston left the club.

The stories of her departure was already on the social network sites.

Houston did not play with the club during the weekend of the Coupe de France game.

According to the newspaper article, Houston requested to be released from her contract after Tarbes' elimination from the EuroLeague Women competition on Wednesday, 20 January 2010.

There were several reasons given for her decision and it appears that after leaving for Christmas, the return to France was difficult.

It is no secret that she runs a foundation and that she has recently taken up the case of a young lady who lost her parents.

The president of Tarbes Michel Uriarte and Houston came to an agreement and the contract was terminated with immediate effect.

Houston played 14 games in the LFB and was the leading scorer with 16.4 points per game. She was averaging 6.4 rebounds and was in the run for winning the player of the year award for non-French players.

In the EuroLeague Women Houston also averaged 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Houston as well as Renee Montgomery, both from the University of Connecticut (UCONN), asked for a break of playing basketball in Europe in mid season.
