Tarbes, back in the championship race

After six weeks of uncertainty, basketball news stories in Tarbes can concentrate on the battle to a place in the top four.

The 8-point penalty for playing unregistered players has been revoked by the appeal court.

The official text of the verdict in French is as follows:

"La Chambre d’Appel a examiné ce jour, 30 mars 2012, le recours exercé par le club de Tarbes Gespe Bigorre.

Elle a constaté que les documents fournis par le club justifiaient de la poursuite des contrats de travail de la joueuse Ljubica DRLJACA jusqu’au 19 décembre 2011 et de la joueuse Isis ARRONDO jusqu’au 22 décembre 2011.

En conséquence, elle a considéré qu’il n’y avait pas lieu à faire perdre par pénalité à l’équipe de Tarbes Gespe Bigorre les rencontres auxquelles ces joueuses ont participé après le 1er novembre 2011."

Basically all it says is that the documents provided prove that the contracts of Ljubica Drljaca and Isis Arrondo were in order until the 19 and 21 December.

As a consequence the club had no reason to lose any points for the games played by the two players from 1 November 2011 until their official leaving date.

What this means is that the regular season standing from round 24 as shown below has been changed:
