U18 youth international basketball for women in Violaines - cancelledThe organisers decided on Monday 11 May,2009 to cancel the Youth international basketball tournament in Violaines. We have decided to leave this page as we hope that this tournament will be back in 2010.  BC Violaines will be hosting their 7th youth international basketball tournament for women starting on Saturday, 30th May and ending on Monday, 1st June 2009.The tournament attracts junior national teams in the U15/U16 age group as well as U18/U19 club sides from all over Europe. Slovenia U16 are back for a third time and are looking to add their names to the winners of this tournament. England will be represented by their national development squad. If all goes well Africa will be represented this year as a team from Morocco are hoping to attend. The Matrixx Magixx who are regulars to Violaines will be presenting the Netherlands while club sides from Belgium will be in attendance. Kaunas will make the long journey from Lithuania. Some U18 club sides from France are also scheduled to take part. The actual format of the competition will be released later on by the organisers and the matches will be played in two venues: Violaines, the hosts and Givenchy, which is about 2km from Violaines. Some players that have shined in this tournament recently picked up senior international experience during the last EuroBasket women 2009 qualification series. BC Violaines do not enter a team in the competition but organise this event as an end-of-season activity. |
