Rezé Basket International
Youth basketball made in Rezé

The international youth basketball festival in Rezé, known as the "Rezé International Basket" or RBI has become a permanent fixture in the international French basketball preparation.

The RBI was born in 1989 and by 1996 had turned into a preparation tournament for the U18 European Championship for Women. Today the RBI is also used by teams preparing for the U19 FIBA World Championship for Women.

The global nature of this tournament has seen national teams from Australia and China take part as well as a USA select team (not affiliated to USA Basketball).

RBI poster WNBA stars of today, such as Cappie Pondexter and Candance Parker have had the RBI experience playing on USA select teams.

What makes this tournament special is that the players are hosted by families for the duration of the festival.

For the 2011 edition, the competition will include a U20 competition and will run from 23 June - 26 June 2011.

Four U19 teams, including France, preparing for the U19 FIBA World Championship will be in competition with four nations in the U20 age group.
