The first half of the final was a tense affair with very little scoring as both sides appeared to be overwhelmed by the occasion.

The highlight of the first ten minutes was a coast to coast by Alicia López for PDV. But it was Ros Casares that led (12-11).

PDV were more adventurous during the second period and went into the break leading (25-21).

The quality of the game improved after the break and Ros Casares drew level (28-28) through Anna Montañana.

Lopez with two three-pointers and PDV were urged on by the crowd as they opened up the biggest lead of the game (38-30).

However they were not able to maintain the momentum and suffered a 7-0 reversal before recovering to go into the final period with a 5-point lead (46-41).

Tactical changes from Ros Casares at the start of the last period left Amaya Valdemoro and Elisa Aguilar on the bench.

Laia Palau and Jana Vesela scored immediately for Ros Casares. The pendulum was beginning to swing in favour of the defending champions.

PDV then started to miss their shots and allowed the champions to score 9 uncontested points.

Montañana started to score at will as Ros Casares took control and never allowed their opponents back into the game as the won the Copa de Reina for the third time.

For Gunta Basko her first experience in the Copa de la Reina lasted only 40 minutes as Halcon Avenida fell on day 1 (80-65) to PDV.
