LFB match 2 - Montpellier Celebrate their victory

Shena Mosh from Arras put the first points on the board from the land of many to get the game going. Adriana Pinto equalised for Montpellier also with a trey as this game started from where the previous game left off. Arras held a slim lead early on but thanks to some excellent shooting from the perimeter Montpellier edged in front (17-13). Adriana Pinto was on fire behind the arc as Montpellier extended their advantage (26-17) and finished the first quarter leading by 8 points (28-21).

Arras had problems with Montpellier’s zone and were kept in the game by Shena Mosh. A couple of first breaks by Montpellier and the lead was back by 10 (38-28) with a trey from Grace (41-28). Sandra Dijon was active in the paint but Montpellier were not able to convert their dominance into points (41-30) mid-way through the period. Offensively Arras only had Mosh and when she was not able to score, Montpellier extended their lead to 20 points (50-30). The 3-point shots by Montpellier were put into evidence when Grace Daley finished the period with a trey (55-32).

Arras struggled to find any real rhythm and allowed their opponents to many-second-chance opportunities and hence were not able to reduce their deficit (63-39) mid-way through the period. Carla Thomas’ debut ended shortly after with her fifth personal foul. Montpellier, in full control, played in short bursts and increased their advantage to 30 points going into the final period with a comfortable lead (71-41).

In the last quarter Montpellier turned their bench and sill kept their advantage. Arras had no reply and lost (86-58).

With no offensive scores by Mosh, for Arras Montepellier extended their lead to 20 points (50-30).

Grace Daly finished with 21 points and is happy to be back in France as she explained after the match.
